Tireless effort by Giles County Sheriff Joe Pervis and his investigators has resulted in an arrest in connection with the murder Sunday night on Interstate 65. In a media release this morning Sheriff Pervis said warrants have been issued for 31-year-old Aaron Wayne Purvis from Atmore, Alabama. Purvis was arrested in Winchester by Franklin County deputies on unrelated charges. At the time of his arrest, deputies recovered multiple firearms and other evidence. One of the firearms they recovered is believed to be the weapon used to murder 26-year-old Sfenson Simeus and wound his sister 23-yar-old Elda. The brother and sister were southbound on Interstate 65 when a vehicle pulled alongside and someone opened fire fatally injuring Sfenson. Elda was hospitalized in stable condition. Sheriff Pervis said the brother and sister recently moved here from Haiti to escape the violence there. The suspect will be transported back to Giles County to face 1st degree homicide and 1st degree attempted homicide charges after he is released from Franklin County where he is facing drug charges.
