Lincoln County Sheriff Tull Malone and Circuit Court Clerk Lisa Simmons are warning residents about a jury duty scam that is making its way around Lincoln County. The scammers claim to be law enforcement or court officials and say you have missed jury duty and a failure to appear warrant has been issued for your arrest. They demand immediate payment either by electronic transfer or prepaid cards to avoid being arrested. They may insist on keeping you on the phone to prevent you from seeking help. Neither court officials nor law enforcement will ever contact you by phone and demand payment or threaten you. If you get one of these calls hang up immediately without providing any information to the caller and immediately contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office at 931-433-9821.
