Congenital Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease that can be passed from mother to baby during pregnancy. It can cause miscarriage, stillbirth or death after birth. Baby’s may also be born with deformed bones or organs. The syphilis rates for woman age 15 to 44 per 100-thousand people. The data showed cases in each county in the nation as of 2023, the last year data has been completed. In middle Tennessee Lincoln County had 16, Moore County had 88, Giles County had 36.3. Maury County had 18.6 and Franklin and Marshall Counti9es had no, cases reported. The agency is recommending health care providers screen everyone between the ages of 15 and 44 in areas with a high rate of the disease.
